But when planning your wedding don't just assume that those beautiful flowers you have always wanted for the bridal bouquet will actually be in season. Check out your choice early. Whilst most flowers can be available, it is not always without some drama. Those out of season flowers may not arrive from overseas, or even interstate. Imagine how disappointed you will feel if there are unexpected problems at the last minute.

Bridal bouquets going into the new millennium are not necessarily designed to match white satin or cream taffeta gowns. Often brides choose dramatic colours and fabrics. As well as the style of the wedding, budget may vary: not all brides have a father to pay the bill. The quantity and cost of flowers does not constitute the full retail cost of the bouquet. The costing will also reflect time that goes into consulting with the bride and perhaps making up samples.
Fresh, natural arrangements are certainly fashionable but the superior silks in stock offer a wonderful and lasting alternative.

Wired or unwired bouquets with magnificent flowers and beautiful ribbons will thrill even the most poised bride. The Wedding party will be as spectacular. Pedestals can be created for the Church and pew ends will tie in the touch of tradition.
Reception flowers can be prepared and candelabras will add a dramatic touch if required. Flowers may be ordered ahead to send as a surprise gift to the parents following the wedding.

Every bride wants a Perfect Wedding
It is easy to get overwhelmed by all the decisions which have to be made before the special day. A wedding without flowers would be a bit like no icing for the cake. Flowers help transform almost any setting into the most wonderful environment.
A professional florist can help you choose your flowers and advise on what will, and what will not work. Be ready to listen to new ideas and remember that florists have lots of experience of weddings. Shop around too and be firm with your budget!
The style and shape of your bouquet will depend on the design and fabric of your gown, and naturally your figure. For example the right bouquet can hide a thick waist or help accentuate a tiny one. You may prefer a loose, informal bouquet or a more formal one. Whatever you choose, try to select the flowers for their fragrance as well as their appearance.
You might even consider wearing flowers in your hair, particularly for a spring wedding. They can be attached to a hair comb or threaded through the hair. Before making firm plans it would be sensible to have a chat with your hairdresser who will be keen to make some suggestions to help achieve the look that you want.
Also very helpful to the florist is for you to show the colours you have chosen for the bridesmaids, by providing swatches of fabric. Keep in mind that if the age group of your bridal party varies a lot, you may need individual bouquets to allow for a certain uniformity.
To ensure your flowers look as fresh at the end of the day as they did at the start, ask for long lasting flowers. They can also be sprayed with a special mixture to assist their longevity.
Is anyone else being married on the same day in the same place as you are? Perhaps if you contact the other bride you may agree on colours and flowers and share the cost! Also consider the placement of church flowers for the photos, and take into account the architectural features and aisle widths.
The main point for church flowers is to remember that small arrangements can be lost if ceilings are very high. Be sure to have the flowers as showy as the budget allows. Even flowering trees either side of the aisle can be very effective as an alternative.
We must not forget the males. It is becoming increasingly popular for the buttonholes to match in some way the bridesmaids bouquets.

When do I book the florist?
Once you have set the date as soon as possible. Many are booked months in advance.
Where do I find a good florist?
Family and friends often can recommend someone, or the dressmaker or your hairdresser. But shop around. No florist will quote you over the phone for such a specialist service.
Consultation, what does it entail?
Phone first to make an appointment because you will want to spend at least an hour discussing your ideas.
You could even take along sketches or pictures you may have of styles you like. Every piece of information will help the florist to get an idea of what you are wanting.
How much will it cost? If your budget is really tight then just order the bridal party flowers. Be aware that bridal bouquets tend to feature more expensive flowers which are individually wired, which of course is labour intensive. The more natural arrangements are less costly. The price will always depend on the type of flowers, the size of the bouquets and of course the availability, design and assembly work involved.
Delivery?
The flowers are usually delivered two or three hours before the wedding to the bride's residence. Sometimes the reception flowers must be arranged the day before.
